Meta Launches Style Sketch, an AI Wardrobe App Tied to Instagram

Meta has quietly launched a new mobile app called Style Sketch, designed to turn the photos you already share online into an organized digital closet. First spotted by social media analyst Matt Navarra and reported by TechCrunch, the app relies on artificial intelligence to recognize clothing items in your pictures and recommend new outfit combinations.

Instead of forcing users to photograph every shirt, jacket, and pair of shoes individually, Style Sketch connects directly to accounts on Instagram and Facebook. The app scans through your existing posts to identify what you own, assembling a catalog of your personal wardrobe without requiring hours of manual data entry.

How the app builds your digital wardrobe

For items that have never appeared on your social feeds, Style Sketch provides several manual options. According to TechCrunch, users can snap a fresh photo, record a short video clip, or upload images directly from their phone camera roll to add garments to their collection.

Once the digital closet is set up, the app generates outfit suggestions based on the clothes you own and your personal style preferences. If you have a specific piece you want to wear—such as a jacket you rarely use—you can choose that item as a starting point, and the AI will assemble coordinated outfits around it.

The app also includes a dedicated travel planner. Users can enter an upcoming destination, how long the trip will last, and the activities they have planned. Style Sketch will then pull the local weather forecast and generate a day-by-day packing list and outfit schedule tailored to the itinerary.

Virtual try-ons and personal data

Beyond simple collage boards, Style Sketch lets users preview clothing on their screen. According to the app store description cited by TechCrunch, users can test outfit combinations on a “realistic model matched to your body shape and skin tone.”

Digital closet apps are not a brand-new concept; startups such as Alta have offered AI wardrobe management for some time, and Google Photos includes tools to organize clothing pictures into virtual collections. However, Meta’s integration with Instagram gives the company an advantage, as millions of people already use the platform as an informal visual record of what they wear.

At the same time, feeding personal body dimensions, skin tone data, and complete photo archives into an AI service raises familiar questions about digital boundaries. Who can use Style Sketch today?

Right now, most readers cannot download the app. Meta has launched Style Sketch as a regional pilot available only in Indonesia, Singapore, and Thailand across iOS and Android.

TechCrunch reported that Meta did not respond to questions regarding its rollout plans, making it unclear when or if the app will arrive in the United States, Europe, or other markets. The initial download appears to be free in the test regions, though Meta has not stated whether the service will eventually include paid subscription tiers or shopping links.

Style Sketch is part of a broader wave of small, experimental releases from Meta in 2026. Earlier this year, The Wall Street Journal reported that Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg told staff the company would ship significantly more standalone apps than in previous years, citing AI development tools that make building and launching software faster. Other recent experimental releases from Meta include an AI virtual pet app called Waddle World, a video generator called Vibes, and a lightweight game development tool named Pocket.
